AJ+ (AlJazeera) wanted to tell the story of the modern-day disastrous repercussions of an oil spill in Nigeria that happened over ten years ago.
To build a campaign with impact, we created the narrative in 360° Virtual Reality, as I wanted to drive home a stark contrast: looking towards the left, viewers can experience the live-action footage play as is (showcasing real imagery of the crisis-ridden land), and when looking towards the right, the footage was amplified with vibrant illustrations showcasing what the land looked like before the crisis.
To align with AlJazeera's strategic goals of reaching certain audiences, we made the 360° VR experience available on the Facebook pages of AJ+, AlJazeera English, and Amnesty International and has amassed over 2.7 million views thus far.
